COLLI BERICI:
THE BOOK ABOUT THE GREEN HEART OF VICENZA

The birth, history and viticulture of the Berici Hills in the volume edited by the Consortium for the Protection of Berici Hills and Vicenza Wines

Colli Berici – The Lands, the Vineyards, the Villas is the new book, presented yesterday at Villa San Fermo in Lonigo (VI), produced by the Consortium for the Protection of Colli Berici and Vicenza Wines to celebrate its territory. The volume, written in Italian and English, encapsulates the history of the Berici Hills, with ample space devoted to the transformation of wine production in the area.
“Our territory is perhaps less known than others, but no less interesting,” comments Giovanni Ponchia, director of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Colli Berici e Vicenza (Berici Hills and Vicenza Wines Consortium). “We are certain that this publication will be an aid to all those who want to venture out for the first time to discover the Berici area, but also to make connoisseurs and enthusiasts rediscover this area with different eyes and new information.
Colli Berici – Le terre, le vigne, le ville devotes the first chapters to the birth of the hills surrounding the city of Vicenza and their transformation to the present day, focusing on the unspoiled nature, the most striking views and the neoclassical villas that dot the landscape. The viticultural history and iconic vineyards of the Berici Hills are the protagonists of the second section, which also collects the performance of vintages from 2000 to 2019.
For the realization of the project, the Consorzio Tutela Vini Colli Berici e Vicenza involved, next to the pen of its Director Giovanni Ponchia, writer Gianluca Sgreva, geologist Alessandra Giorgianni, Prof. Gianni Moriani, coordinator of the Master’s Program in Philosophy of Food and Wine at San Raffaele University in Milan, CREA-VE Conegliano researcher Diego Tomasi and ARPA Veneto technician Silvia Obber, with photos by Claudio Portinari and Mauro Fermariello.
The volume is available at the headquarters of the Consorzio Vini Colli Berici e Vicenza, inside Palazzo Pisani in Lonigo (VI).
